Kathleen & Kevin's Wedding Day 04.20.12

Kathleen and Kevin are a great couple! We met Kathleen over a year ago when she hired us to be her wedding planners. She had so many great ideas especially when it came to their cherry blossom wishing tree to their snazzy cigar bar table. The decor, food, and location were definitely great choices in pleasing all of the international guests! 

The day started off sunny, warm, with a light breeze. We knew it was going to be a jam packed wedding day so we had to bring on one of our trusty assistants! She was great, and it's always better to have an extra set of hands! We arrived Top of the Town (Arlington, VA) just as a prior event was just ending. At 4:00pm on the dot, we knew it was crunch time. This is when the time that we put on our running shoes, and are literally running around trying to get everything done before the ceremony starts! And all of the running around was worth it! 

Catering was done by fabulous Main Event Catering. We love them and their food. Andrea was so great to work with and her staff was really on top of everything and very helpful! I just have to mention the tea that Main Event served throughout the night. It was magical and delicious. It was a peach iced tea that is directly imported from Italy and my oh my was it delicious. I'm pretty sure I had about a whole bottle of it to myself!

Their photographers and florists were all friends, which was so helpful. It definitely makes the event that much more special when you know you really trust the people that are working to make your dream day come to life.

In the end, no matter how crazy or how busy a wedding day is for us, all that is important to us is the bride and groom. If they are happy, we are happy! Kathleen & Kevin were both very happy, and we couldn't have asked for a better couple to work with.

The Knot Event 2012 - Arena Stage

This year we were invited as guests to attend the annual Knot DC event. Going into this event I didn't really know what to expect. I knew it would be a lot of mingling and schmoozing, which is always fun, and I really thought I'd feel a bit intimidated. Getting there it took us awhile to warm up to the crowd, but once we got in there we didn't miss a beat! The band was rocking out all thanks to NYX Entertainment. They were so much fun! I had never seen a band mixed with a DJ and I loved every second of their set. The food was catered and it was great! Different kinds of dips and hummus, and they even had a mac n cheese bar. It's exactly as it sounds! Mini cups of delicious mac n cheese and you could add your own toppings. So perfect, that we may have snuck seconds and maybe thirds haha

It was a really great event and we would really love to go again next year!  Here are a couple of pictures that we took throughout the night. There were some really great ideas! And some fun ones of just us too. Enjoy!

 Still in keeping with the mod theme. The tables and lounge furniture fit the theme well. Speaking of the theme it was based on Mad Men, characters names throughout the party too! What a great idea since Mad Men is such a hot show on Bravo right now.

 I couldn't resist posing in one of the fun chairs that lit up! You can't tell in the picture but it actually lit up blue! And of course me sipping on my water. It was an open bar that night but I just enjoyed staring at the signature cocktails.

So...our oldest girl Ava Jude turned three in April.  Happy birthday baby girl! Can't believe you are three already.  We are currently planning a princess party for her since she loves anything princess and these are some of the things we got our inspiration from.  The funny thing was us trying to bargain shop and find prince swords for the boys!  The swords are actually going to be way cooler than the princess wands! I think the DIY bar is raised every year, especially when the mother of the child is an event planner.  I wonder what Martha Stewart's child birthday parties were like (does she even have any kids?)

Gotta Love Kids Birthday Parties

I love being crafty with my daughters. Instead of buying gift bags, here's a great way to add a personal touch to them. Toddlers love these puffy stickers (and they are not too messy). These are decorated gift bags for Ava's friends' birthday this afternoon. Happy 3rd birthday Eli and Alex.

More Cherry Blossoms

In keeping with our previous cherry blossom post we have another photo to share! I was strolling through Wegmans last night - an amazing grocery store - and saw these adorable cupcakes in the bakery section. How cute! We are loving the spring-like weather and celebrating the Cherry Blossom Festival. We love it!

Cherry Blossom Festival - DC

In honor of our Nation's Capital and with Spring in full swing, we thought we'd put together an inspiration board with a Cherry Blossom theme. We are DC area natives, but rarely do go into the city to see the beautiful blooms.

We must give a shout out to our first wedding of 2012, Kathleen & Kevin...because they're using a cherry blossom theme for their wedding next month. We're so excited to see it all come together!

One hundred years ago the mayor of Tokyo, Japan gave, as a present 3,000 cherry blossom trees to commemorate the long-standing friendship between the US and Japan. What a beautiful present to give us! See the full story.

Cherry blossoms are not only part of our local history, but it is also near and dear to Sweetface's heart. This bloom has been one of my favorite trees/flowers for the longest time, and we had to incorporate it into our logo, which you might find throughout our site.

There is no trace of any Irish in our whole family (not unless you count one of our friends-friends who is half Filipino-Irish, or the family member we have who was wearing some extremely fashionable yet "very tight" green pants today-he shall remain nameless) but we enjoy celebrating all the green that comes with this holiday anyway.  I especially love the Lucky Charms gift bags (pic above).   Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!  We will still continue the tradition of pinching everyone NOT wearing green today (just like in elementary school).

Everything Disney

Just got back from the magical place on earth The Magic Kingdom in Orlando.  We were blessed with our annual trip to Disney and as we get to know the park better by getting to go each year, each time our trip becomes more enjoyable.  Did you know that they throw Mickey Mouse shaped confetti during their day time parade? Here are some of my favorite shots from the Magic Kingdom this year.

So have you ever asked yourself about the history behind engagement rings? Well I have, and so I took to the web to dig up the background.I found a few websites particularly on jeweler's sites talking about the history and I must say it is interesting. Apparently, Cupid's arrows had diamonds on the tips? Who knew!

Bella and Edward

Okay...so we're a little late in posting this but we just watched Bella and Edward's wedding the other day on Blu Ray.  I have to say, I think Nicole and I were speechless!  It was as romantic as the book described and we didn't want it to end.  I loved everything about the outdoor ceremony, the trees, the flowers, the natural wood everywhere.  And then...her dress! The traditional look with the long sleeves is definitely back, and the silhouette of the back: gorgeous.  I would definitely want to have an outdoor ceremony and reception after watching this.

We combed the web this Valentines for some simple DIY at home ideas for your bff, boyfriend, co-worker, neighbor, hubby, toddler, baby and pup.  I like them because they are do-able and really look cute!  Besides, we are just going to take a picture of it and post it on FB to brag that we ourselves did it anyways right?  Happy Valentines Day from Sweetface.  This is, in fact... just another favorite holiday of ours! <3 <3 <3

We just love these hair accessories from Tessa Kim!  A must have this season.  Even if you're not getting married, I think I would rock this to a formal event or dinner party.  Maybe even just to the mall or church.  What do you think?

Winter Blues?

Winter blues? Cure by getting a new lipstick shade and paint your nails a fun color you wouldn't usually try!  After cleaning out our closets and drawers we realized we had a bunch of empty MAC cosmetic cases.   Did you know you could trade any six empty ones at the MAC store for a free lip stick or eye shadow? Reaping the rewards of cleaning out our stuff already! (shown MAC's Cream Nude)

New Year, New Us!

Sweetface Events is getting organized and in shape this January.  The new year brought about some great excitement for 2012, we just know it's going to be a great year!  The team of Sweetface Events is kicking it off by hitting the gym and by cleaning out our closets.  Nothing like the feeling of a great work out and some organization in our lives.  We're thinking "minimalist".  Both in our pantry and under our beds.  Too bad our kitchen and bedroom doesn't really look like this!  Along with the new year,  we have revamped the look of our site.  How does it look?
